The stages detailed below allow me to follow a standardised approach in therapy and coaching, drawing on psychological theory and the evidence base. However, every individual is unique and therefore every intervention is then specifically tailored to reflect this.
During the initial assessment, I build up a detailed history of the client, their strengths and any areas of concern. This may involve the use of questionnaires and baseline measures.
By drawing on psychological theory and the evidence base and including information from the initial assessment, I am able to make sense of the clients' strengths and difficulties. This understanding leads to a plan of action.
This stage involves putting the plan into action and often requires the client to practice what we have discussed, in preparation for their next session.
Outcomes are evaluated using appropriate repeated measures. A decision is then made as to whether any further interventions would be beneficial.
